A simple clapboard building. Could you build it? How many helpers would you need?

A larger log cabin gallery. Could you build it? How many helpers would you need?

  1. Ooh, those totem poles are intriguing! I hope to see more of them in the future!

Your town seems like a reminiscent of the old days! I love how very modern the Larger Log Cabin Gallery is!

  2. I think I'll just let the expert do their works and concentrate on taking photos instead! lol

  3. The lean-to! I could do the lean-to! But it would be a little leaky for the kind of rain we're having right now here in Oregon. Happy New Year to you both Barry and Linda!

  4. What wonderful pictures! I love the fish chair especially. And with my lack of construction know-how, you wouldn't want me building ANY of those. ;)

  5. Hmmm. The lean-to I could do. Up through the clapboard building I would just need my dad and a brother or both. But the totem poles, those would take really specialized skilled artisans, which we are not!
For the bigger buildings: one person. A contractor!
Have an excellent 2010, Barry and Linda and Lindsay!

  6. I recently saw two such lean tos facing each other in a wooded area. Any ideas.

An excellent blog. Great idea to join forces. Have a great New Year.

  7. I guess the number of helpers would depend on how fast you wanted to build it. Which reminds me of the law of getting anything -- Good, Fast, Cheap...pick two.

  9. Well I could not construct any of those things but you two did a great job of construction a post for this theme. Very interesting. I have seen the lean tos in Barry's pics and videos. All the best to you both. Blessings

  10. hello barry and linda!!! the decagonal building - well if i had enough popsicle sticks i'd be tempted to build a little model but you know what? i was raised to be an artist and a poet and a thinker and i'm almost useless at building things like these gorgeous structures! my brother on the other hand is a woodworker and carpenter so i could let him loose on any of those -except the totem poles! cool post! have a lovely day. steven

  11. how wonderful I found myself thinking - yes I could, no I couldn't, yes I could... I have in a past life designed buildings and other things like furniture, but then gave the plans to my first husband who could build anything - so maybe it is just my imagination that works well not my hands.... I can build a loaf of bread and homemade jams to put on it, does that count?

  12. Ha! I cannot decide which building, or item I would require built first...let's see...the fish chair for hubby's relaxing, the antique house for my retirement life work...but, we will not be building it, Ha! because hubby and I are more word smith's and lousy carpenters, like the first house the three pigs built!

  13. Love the fish chair and decagon ceiling. I probably could not build `any of these! Hope you have a wonderful 2010!

  14. I could possibly do the lean-to, but then you've moved beyond my capabilities entirely. I would be happy to help though! As long as that whole straight line thing was more of a guideline...

  21. I really love the banner of you and Barry. So sweet.

How many helpers would I need? All I could find along with one nice comfy chair to sit in while I watch them work. Oh, and I could use a good looking waiter to bring me my wine.

Add some sunglasses if it is sunny (another hunk to fan me if it is hot). And of course, a second hunk to hold an umbrella if it is raining. I would insist they work until my project would completed.

Oh, and I must have grapes fed to me by a Greek god.

Any takers? I have a lot of projects that need to be done.

  22. How many helpers would I need? Have you heard the expression "it takes a village...." Excellent post, Barry and Linda. You always make us think and/or laugh.

  23. Question - can I use duct tape? If so, I could probably make it work ;) That's about as handy as I get. Happy New Year to you both!!

  24. Two beautiful friends. Did I build them? No. How many helpers did I need? None. I just stumbled across them one day, and I thank God for it. Barry and Linda, you are a breath of fresh air.

  25. Hmmm. I could help Kerry and Doreen build the lean-to. I'm pretty good at picking up sticks and carrying them!

  26. When I was young, my bro and sis and I made a pole house in the bush. It wasn't a lean to, and we had fun. It wasn't so much fun when the neighbours told on mum. It was a time of communist insurgency and mum told us off that the soldiers might think we are communists and shoot us.
I like the last photo best.

  27. That last photo is magnificent. I grew up in a very backwoods/ghost town/tourist town in Idaho and I have built most of these structures over the years. I never had the artistics skills to carve a totem pole or an opportunity to try anything as complex as the decagon.
I love your home town shoot outs.
