I especially enjoyed your pic of that handsome falcon! (not to say that you're not handsome, as well, Barry) :^)
ReplyDeleteHope you and Linda have a lovely weekend. x
Ok, the most fascinating to me is that last photo. Why is that bird eating out of your hand?
ReplyDeleteTabor, that a very old photo and the bird's name is "Sammy". It had a deformed claw and was kicked out of the nest by its mother. My brother found it and we raised it, feeding it with a dropper for many weeks before teaching it to eat worms.
ReplyDeleteThinking about it, that photo must be 50 years old.
Thinking about it further, that make me old! YIPES!
Barry and Linda I loved your post. Always do. That falcon was unusual. Nice one of the injured bird too.
ReplyDeleteQMM
the photo of the bird eating from your hand is amazing... a few weeks ago a nest full of baby birds fell into our fireplace, we tried feeding them with a stopper, must not have been right - sorry to say they all died. is really amazing that you helped one survive.
ReplyDeletelove the falcon.
It also kept my 3 brothers and I busy and out of my mother's way throughout the best part of the summer, Ginger.
ReplyDeleteAnd I hope you noticed not a single peacock appeared in this post! lol
Since most of your photos involved lunch, I was wondering if you were hungry? :)
ReplyDeleteI also have a bush where the flock of sparrows hang out together.
Love the last one! I managed to raise a sparrow once from a naked little bird to adulthood. He would take seeds out of your mouth, sit on your shoulder, and groom me (not that he found anything!). So cute!
Linda was responsible for this post, Shabby Girl. She was still busy putting it together around midnight last night, long after I'd gone to bed. So she could well have been hungry for a midnight snack!
ReplyDelete"Hungry and hangin' out" looks like the theme here! Great place to do both, from the looks of it.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, so you guys wrote this post at what time of day...? 11:59? Ah - just read all the comments and I'm only 12 hours off. Me too, though, I'm ready for a snack (a dinnersnack).
ReplyDeleteGreat birds, and an excellent sense of humor!
I like the Emus! There aren't any in our zoos here, and the only time I've seen one live was at a wildlife park in Arkansas, where a week after my visit, a drunk woman had her arm ripped off by a tiger - I'm guessing she ignored the signs and fences that try to keep you from sticking your arm into their habitat.
ReplyDeleteI too, like the photo of the emus and the falcon but my personal favorite is the last one. I love hearing that you and your brother nurtured it back to health.
ReplyDeleteFantastic photographs! I loved the last one, beautiful!
ReplyDeletevery cool. esp that last one. we have a bird sanctuary nearby that does all kinds of programs or the littles. the boys love it!
ReplyDeleteSensitive photos of our feathered friends, and you must have had loads of patience to have captured them. I tried photographing the birds feeding at our newly acquired bird feeder, but gave up after a while because I couldn't seem to get the birds in shot! A good memory that last photo had for you. So many years ago. So many memories since. So much enjoyment. So much life you have lived. So much more to enjoy. Sending blessings to you and Linda.
ReplyDeleteJust love the expression on the face of the woman handling the falcon...looks like she is expecting the worst! Great shoot.
ReplyDeleteEmus...now there is something different!
ReplyDeleteLove the emus. And the falcon although the lady holding it does not look to be totally in love with it. And, of course, the last shot and its story. I've tried several times to raise damaged or abandoned birds, never with any success. Well done to Barry and his brothers. Wonderful memory to have.
ReplyDeleteOh I love the flock of ducks from above!! wonderful shootout guys!! Hugs, Sarah
ReplyDeleteI like the picture of the emus, one of them looks ready to pounce you for taking their picture! lol
ReplyDeletewell I hope they all got lunch!! lol love the last shot. very cool.
ReplyDeleteI like Emus....they are cute :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog!
Cheers,
Harold

Hi guys. I'm missing my blog family.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the visit to your part of the world. I bet the bird word gets out about your new feeder and soon you'll have tons of visitors!
Amazing photographs, well done!
ReplyDeleteLove that last photo. I read the story about the photo in your comments section and what a great story!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots Barry and Linda, I never seem to get close enough for real birds :) I did however take a photo once of hummingbirds around a feeder, but before digital and could not find it!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter love to feed the seagulls by the ocean...
Love the emus and the "worm" bird. Great mix of birds.
ReplyDeleteHope you are doing well. I have not have time to keep up with the adventures of Barry but you are always in my thoughts.
Hugs to Linda.
What a great chance to study a Falcon. I wish we'd had visitors like that when I was at school! Thanks for taking part.
ReplyDeleteSo I thought the falcon was my favorite until I got to the end, and saw the little one being fed.
ReplyDeleteExcellent photos, wonderful post.
Jen! Is that really you? From the wireless wilds of Texas?
ReplyDeleteGreat to have you back!!!
Hi Barry,
ReplyDeleteRe: women going googaa over a new baby, beside being human nature, people will try to avoid work as much as they can, even like an unpopular ex colleague visiting, I remember we all stopped work to talk to them.
Do you remember the Quin's mother who died in the early 1980s. Some one make a comment that the Quin's mother is dead. The rest thought the Queen Mother is dead. I was in the office of 50 girls.
Straight away, work ceased, and no body worked but yak yak yak. The boss comes out of his office, " What's the yaking about?"
